Washington Representatives is the leading provider of reference information on the
government relations and lobbying industry, and is maintained by its parent publisher,
Columbia Books & Information Services (CBIS). We (CBIS) printed our first lobbying
directory in 1977, which contained basic contact information for lobbyists and their
clients. We titled the book Washington Representatives. As the years went on, we
researched and compiled more information for the directory, including biographical
data and educational backgrounds. Before we knew it, Washington Representatives
was deemed the “K Street Bible” and became a pivotal tool in the Government Relations
industry. As the Internet changed the information gathering industry, we saw a growing
demand to have this information accessible online. So, in 2006, we created Lobbyists.info
from Washington Representatives and dedicated staff to adding more information (like
PACs and 527 Groups) in addition to maintaining daily updates. After seeing this
response, we introduced an online version of Washington Representatives tailored
for congressional staff in 2010, with additional features including the US Congress
Online database, the Ethics Center, and the ROVER information delivery service,
giving congressional staff more industry access and information than ever before.
Washington Representatives still remains the leading source of information on the
government relations industry in D.C. and on the hill!
