Potential 2020 Democratic Vice Presidential Candidates
As he prepares for the stretch run of his presidential campaign, probably the biggest decision facing Joe Biden is his choice to serve as Vice President, an office that he held for eight years with President Barack Obama. Biden has narrowed his options by stating that he will select a woman as his running mate. And he has said that he plans to announce his decision at least two weeks before the scheduled August 17 start of the Democratic national convention.
Biden has been weighing multiple factors in making his selection—including geography, ideology, compatibility with him and preparedness to fill the position. In addition, many Democrats have urged him to select either a woman who is a racial minority.
